# Glossary

* **Assisted mobility:** Human-controlled mobility with system interventions such as warning, limiting, or stopping.
* **Autonomous mobility:** System-generated navigation within a defined operating domain.
* **ODD:** Operating design domain; the conditions under which a capability is intended to work.
* **Safe state:** Defined system condition intended to reduce unacceptable risk.
* **Safety gate:** Component that authorizes, modifies, or rejects proposed motion.
* **SIL/HIL:** Software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
* **Takeover:** Transfer from autonomous control to a human.
* **Watchdog:** Independent monitor that detects missing or unhealthy behavior.
